Every year thousands of people take part in the pilgrimage to the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Baromari, Bangladesh, an event that culminates with an elaborate "Way of the Cross" ceremony. This last year, Maryknoll Father William McIntire, M.M., concelebrated the pilgrimage mass at St. Leo's Parish which is served by the Baromari Mission, and Maryknoll Magazine was on hand to record exclusive video of the Bengali "Way of the Cross".

The sheer number of attendees is especially impressive considering the Catholics of Bangladesh are thought to only number 1% of the total population. As Father McIntire says, "the annual pilgrimage to the Shrine has helped to put this place on the Bangladesh Catholic map. I think many people will be surprised to learn that there is such a Catholic shrine in Bangladesh."
