Haitian-born Father Romane St. Vil, M.M., recently led an assessment trip to the country's capital, Port-au-Prince, to better determine what Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers can do for the victims left devastated by the January earthquake. Upon his return, Fr. St. Vil had this to say about what the Maryknollers found: "Now you're not dealing with the dead, you're dealing with those people who are alive and with nothing. With no help."
The need for help and relief is growing larger and more pressing every day and, with the rainy season quickly approaching the region, thousands upon thousands of homeless and exposed Haitians stand to lose even more than they already have. Sadly, even though the earthquake is over, its effects continue to ravage and claim lives.
In this exclusive video segment, Father St. Vil talks about the trip, his own personal connection to Haiti, and what Maryknoll - and you - can do to help.
