A Guatemalan Journal of Hope and Despair

Just a few of the many Guatemalan children Brother Shea has photographed.

While serving the children and families of Guatemala during the worst years of civil war, Maryknoll Brother Marty Shea kept a journal of photos and essays he called, "Save the Children, Save their Stories". Shea's words and pictures serve as a moving testament to the Guatemalan people whose overwhelming struggles and small triumphs he shared for so many years.
