For some 40 years now, Maryknoll has invited Priests and Brothers from dioceses and religious communities to join with us in mission as Associates. Over the years 80 Priests and Brothers have joined the program with a good number renewing their contracts for a second and third time.

Some say, "Why should I consider going to work in another country when the needs in the United States today are so great? We don't have enough priests to staff our own parishes?" The priest shortage in the United States is certainly recognized by all. However, the missionary charism of the United States Church is not lessened or reduced because of numbers. It is essential that our church send others "to preach the Good News in the other towns" as the Gospel tells us. There may not be great numbers of priests and brothers willing to exercise that charism as missioners. But, there have always been a few who indeed have been given this call and are willing to pursue it!

Perhaps you are among those few priests and brothers in the United States who have a call to go out to other peoples of the world for a period of time as a Maryknoll Associate.
